Journey to the North, SAPA

The journey started at 8:00PM when we assembled at the Hanoi train station.

The train journey to Sapa takes around 9 hours which operates by a number of companies (Tulico, Ratraco, Fansipan, Friendly, Victoria, etc.). Hence, it will be an overnight train ride with beds of various standards depending on which company you are taking. We took the Green Express Train with a sharing air conditioned cabin of 4 soft berths.

We reached Lao Cai train station at around 5:30AM after long hours of train ride.

We were transferred to the town of Sapa by car for about 45 mins up the mountain. Sapa is located at 1650 m above sea level in Vietnam's remote northwest mountains. Let me show you some preview photos of Sapa before I continue further in my next post. It's taken from my hotel's balcony (Holiday Sapa Hotel).
